Stage 6 ventures deep into the centre of the Black Forest. The trail follows the narrow ridge between Wolftal and Einbachtal, which descends from Brandenkopf, until it reaches the exposed Spitzfelsen rock, which protrudes into Kinzigtal. The 945 metre high Brandenkopf with its high viewing tower is well worth a diversion, especially as the Black Forest Association's catered hiking lodge is located on its summit.

The Westweg is a classic long-distance hiking trail in southern Germany. It leads south from Pforzheim mostly along the ridges of the Black Forest. Magnificent views of the Rhine Valley with the Vosges to the west as well as the Swabian Jura and its foothills to the east are included.
From Titisee, there is an east and a west variant to Basel. Here the west variant is presented. The E1 is also routed along this trail from Pforzheim to Titisee and then turns eastward through the Wutach Gorge.
