A Pilismarót Nagy-öböl a Bős-nagymarosi vízlépcső létesítésekor, az elárasztásra szánt terület alóli kavicsvagyon megmentése érdekében történt kotrással jött létre. Átlagos vízmélysége 4 m, de helyenként a 8-10 métert is elérheti a fenék távolsága a felszíntől.
A 150 hektáros területű öböl jelenleg a Magyar Országos Horgász Szövetség kezelésében van.
Ha itt töltenéd az éjszakát túrázás közben légy tekintettel a horgászokra akik díjat fizetnek a horgászállások használatáért. Lehetőleg ne zavard őket! Csak olyan részen állj meg ami nem foglalt és kellő távolságban van szomszédtól!
