At Čunovo, the trail splits into a Hungarian and a Slovakian branch. Both branches merge at Komárno. This Slovakian variant follows the left bank of the Danube, where a large reservoir was built to control the river and prevent future flooding. This Reservoir starts near Čunovo, at Danubiana, where a weir allows controlled flow of water into the remaining former riverbed into Hungary. The main body of water is collected into the 30 km-long Gabčíkovo reservoir on the Slovak side of the river.
