Tuulentupa, wilderness hut, Saukkovaara Ristijärvi

A reasonably sized group can stay overnight in the atmospheric wilderness hut at Tuulentupa, as there is plenty of sleeping space on the platforms. Inside, a fireplace provides warmth.

There is also a fireplace and a group of tables in the courtyard, and a large lean-to shelter along the path that runs past.

There are nice berry picking and mushroom picking areas in the surrounding area.

The distance from Saukkovaara directly to the Tuulentupa wilderness hut is about 7 km, and about 10 km on the Saukonselkä circular route. The Saukonselkä hiking trail is also part of the long UKK trail.

You can also reach Tuulentupa via Kivikyläntie along the UKK hiking trail, which is less than 2 km away (Kivikyläntie 53, Ristijärvi).

There is a drytoilet and a wood storage room at the wilderness hut.
