The Riemannhaus is located at 2,177 meters in the Steinernes Meer range of the Berchtesgaden Alps. The mountain hut is perched in a spectacular location in the Ramseider Scharte between Sommerstein and Breithorn.
Thanks to its central location, it’s the perfect starting point for hikes through the Steinernes Meer. The hut can be reached in about 3 hours via the valley town of Maria Alm.
Since 1902, the hut has belonged to the Ingolstadt section of the German Alpine Club (DAV), which expanded it over the decades to accommodate up to 120 guests.
In late summer 2023, the final phase of renovation began; the original section of the hut was demolished and a replacement building was erected. In summer 2024, the new building—which includes, among other things, a new kitchen, a new dining room, and staff quarters—was completed.
The remaining work was completed in the spring of 2025, so the lodge now shines in new splendor.
