Challenging hike up into the Steinernes Meer. The ascent and descent go over steep, exposed terrain. The route rewards with fantastic panoramas over the surrounding valleys and mountains up to the Hohe Tauern. The Riemannhaus is already located in the Steinernes Meer - a unique high mountain plateau. From the Riemannhaus, a variety of other peaks such as Sommerstein, Breithorn, Mitterhorn, etc., can be climbed.

Since the entire ascent and descent to the Riemannhaus is in exposed, rocky terrain, hikers should start early to avoid the midday heat. Be sure to carry enough water for all hikers. Use sun protection and head covering. The path is partly very steep and rocky. Only recommended for hikers who are sure-footed, experienced, and have no fear of heights.
