Die Preintalerhütte befindet sich im Herzen der Schladminger-Tauern und ist Tagesausflugsziel, idealer Ausgangspunkt für zahlreiche Übergänge und Gipfel, sowie ein Etappenziel für die Wanderer des Tauernhöhenwegs.
Ausgehend vom Seeleiten-Parkplatz am Gasthof Riesachfall im Untertal führt der Weg in ca. 2,5 Stunden auf die Preintalerhütte.Wer mutig genug ist, wählt den Alpinsteig „die Höll“ , erkundet den Riesachfall - den längsten Wasserfall der Steiermark - und bezwingt den Höhepunkt des Steigs, eine 50m lange Seilbrücke über die Schlucht. Ab der Oberen Gfölleralm geht es gemütlich fast eben am Riesachsee an Almen und Wiesen entlang vorbei bis zur Kotalm. Von dort führt ein gemächlicher Anstieg noch ca. 45 Minuten auf die Hütte.
