Liebe Bergfreunde, Wanderer und Naturliebhaber! Die Ennstalerhütte ist die älteste Hütte im Gesäuse (Steiermark), wurde im Jahr 1885 erbaut und liegt inmitten des alpinen Ambientes mit südlicher Ausrichtung und Ausblick auf Lugauer, Zinödl, Planspitz, Hochtor, Ödstein, Admonter Reichenstein, Buchstein, usw. auf 1.544m Seehöhe.
Die Schutzhütte der Kategorie I wird seit Mai 2020 von Burgi und Ernst Brunnmayr geführt, sie sorgen auch für euer leibliches Wohl. Es werden kalte und warme Speisen angeboten.[Bn]
Neben den Zugangswegen von den Bahnhöfen Gstatterboden (Weg Nr. 646), Hieflau (Weg Nr. 648) und Großreifling (Weg Nr.646) bzw. dem Zugangsweg vom Parkplatz in Erb bei St.Gallen (Weg Nr. 650) bietet das umgebende Tourengebiet vielfältige bergsteigerische Möglichkeiten. Das Betätigungsfeld reicht von Bergwandern (zum Gipfel des Tamischbachturms), alpinem Bergsteigen (Nr. 546, ein schwarzer Weg), Klettersteigen (Teufelssteig) bis hin zum Klettern (Tieflimauer, Kl.Buchstein). Neben dem Weitwanderweg 08 (Eisenwurzenweg) führt auch der Luchstrail an der Ennstalerhütte vorbei.
Die Ennstalerhütte hat weder Anschluss an eine Straße noch Anschluss an Wasser, Abwasser und Strom. Zustieg ist nur zu Fuß möglich (mindestens 2.5h). Waschmöglichkeiten vorhanden, aber keine Dusche. WC, aber kein Wasserklosett. Elektrisches Licht, aber kein Strom. Telefon aber kein eMail. Mobilfunknetz (auf der Terrasse) aber kein WLAN oder Internet. Hüttenschlafsäcke sind selbst mitzubringen.

In der Hauptsaison vom 17. Juni bis 14. September haben wir wie gewohnt täglich für euch geöffnet. In der Vor- und Nachsaison haben wir Dienstags Ruhetag. An diesem Tag steht in unserer Stube ein Kühlschrank mit kleinen Snacks und Getränken zur Selbstbedienung bereit. Für Nächtigungsgäste, die von Montag auf Dienstag bei uns bleiben, wird das Frühstück selbstverständlich wie gewohnt angeboten. Ein Check-in bzw. eine Übernachtung von Dienstag auf Mittwoch ist jedoch nicht möglich (ausgenommen Notfälle).
