The Bonn-Matreier Hut boasts many superlatives:
As the name suggests, the Bonn-Matreier Hut is managed fifty-fifty by the Bonn Alpine Club (Germany) and the Matrei Alpine Club in East Tyrol. This is unique in Europe.
The incredible panorama at 2,750 meters is truly breathtaking; the view stretches from the South Tyrolean Dolomites, the Villgrater Mountains, and the Lienz Dolomites, across the Schoberguppe, all the way to Triglav in Slovenia!
The Bonn-Matreier Hut is located directly on the Venediger High Trail, making it the perfect starting point for countless hikes!
Despite the hut’s high-alpine location, the hut team never fails to treat their guests to culinary delights of the highest caliber!
You don’t have to miss out on Sunday church services either: just 2 minutes from the hut lies the highest chapel in the Eastern Alps.
