Hiking in Silkeborg

The Quality Trail is certified by the Danish Hiking Association as an urban trail.

Pramdragerstien, also known as the „Trækstien“, is a historic hiking route that takes you through the picturesque landscape along the Gudenå, Denmark's longest river.

It is a 6.8-kilometer-long hiking route that circles the town of Ans by Tange Lake. The route passes beautiful nature by the stream, the canal, viewpoints, and offers local historical interpretation.

The area around Silkeborg is full of fascinating stories about Silkeborg Castle, the paper mill, the Remstrup River, Krogh’s Bench, protected burial mounds, Iron Age fields, the Frederik VII Høj lookout point, and Silkeborg Baths with the Arnak Spring. There are therefore plenty of opportunities to add an extra historical dimension to side trips along the Silk Route.

The area around Bølling Lake is full of fascinating stories about the Hærvejen and sunken roads, Stone Age settlements, Bronze Age burial mounds, the sites where the Tollund Man and the Elling Woman were found, and the peat mining history of more recent times. There are therefore plenty of opportunities to add an extra historical dimension to your hike in the area.
