Hiking in Eibiswald

The 16th stage of the Pohorje–Kozjak Trail runs from Radelj ob Dravi across the slopes of Kozjak and along a scenic route along the Slovenian-Austrian border to Remšnik.

Pohorje - Kozjak Trail je 187 km dolga krožna daljinska pot z 20 etapami, ki povezuje Pohorje in Kozjak ter ponuja razglede, gozdove, kulturno dediščino in pristno doživetje Štajerske.

We owe this first of the 10 Great Austrian long-distance hiking trails to an exile Styrian who was relocated to the Waldviertel after the Second World War. It was while sweating over the processing of a granite block that the sculptor Carl Hermann's thoughts once again wandered 'home' to the green province of Styria.

The last stage on our route through Austria has begun. We leave the West Styrian alms and mostly hike downhill towards Eibiswald. At the outskirts of Eibiswald, we reach the long-distance hiking stone created by Carl Hermann, which marks the endpoint of the NSWW.

The Carinthian Mariazellerweg runs from Klagenfurt on Lake Wörthersee through Carinthia and Styria to the pilgrimage town of Mariazell on the border with Lower Austria.

The North-South Trail is one of the oldest long-distance hiking routes in Austria and stretches from the northern Waldviertel to the Styrian Wine Country in the south.
