Hikes in Werfenweng

Beautiful but challenging summit hike with a great hut! The view will amaze you.

Hut access with public transport to the Sölden Hut. Starting point Werfenweng, district Wengerau; reachable by call-collect taxi.

An unspectacular connecting stage into the Salzach valley takes us in a few hours to Werfen, where we have reached the halfway point of the Northern Alpine Trail!

After the excursion to the bizarre rock and glacier region at Dachstein, the Salzburg Alpine trail today is significantly more leisurely and above all greener (but a long route!).

The sunny side of the Tennengebirge is very popular with nature lovers and mountaineers throughout the summer. You hike toward steeply rising and particularly impressive rock faces, such as the Werfener Hochthron.

From Lungötz, follow marked paths and trails on the long-distance trail "Via Alpina," steadily ascending over several alpine pastures up to the Frommer-Hochalm. From here, you hike along the ridge trail in very beautiful surroundings through larches, spruces, and dwarf pines to the Sölden-Hütte, which is located on the southern slope of the Salzburger Tennengebirge and offers a wonderful view into the Salzach Valley and of the Hochkönig.
