You reach from Vellberg on pleasant paths, partly along a street and across a golf course into the forest. Here you often walk on natural paths. You also pass through forest areas excluded from use, allowing a rich herb and shrub layer to develop, where rarer plants can also be found. The Einkorn has a lookout tower and a Stone Age educational trail. Due to the shortness of the hike, a visit to Schwäbisch Hall is recommended afterwards.

The Bühler is the Kocher’s largest tributary. From Vellberg onward, it cuts deeply into the valley’s Muschelkalk limestone. Part of its course runs through the Lower Bühlertal Nature Reserve, one of the most beautiful valleys in Baden-Württemberg, boasting a rich biodiversity. In the secluded hamlet of Anhausen, we come upon the ruins of St. Bartholomew’s Church. The original Church of St. Bartholomew once stood on a rocky outcrop above the Bühler. The site was first mentioned around 976. Beneath the church rock there are several grottoes; in one niche there is even a statue of the Virgin Mary. ▶ We begin our hike in Vellberg 01 (369 m). From the parking lot below the Pulverturm, we climb the stairs. In “Im Städtle,” we walk past the Stadtcafé, through the Pompelestor, and down to the L1040. Turn right here; after about 50 meters, turn left, cross the Bühler River, and then follow the valley road to the left. Straight ahead, the path soon leads us along a meadow path, unmarked. After a few minutes, the path curves to the right, first running along the edge of the forest, then into the woods. After a few hundred meters, it curves to the right, then runs along the Alenbach stream and finally ends a little further on at a bridge. Cross the bridge and turn left to the wastewater treatment plant, then continue right above the Bühler stream. Winding up and down—now following the WK trail marker—we reach a barbecue shelter. Just a few hundred meters later, we pass the Talheim 02 sports facilities (360 m). We follow the paved path, skirt the L1040, and turn left here, continuing on a paved path under the railroad tracks, now following the “butterfly” trail marker. At the fork after 500 meters, we continue straight ahead following the red dot; then, a few minutes later, we keep to the left and follow a left-hand curve across meadows. Shortly thereafter, a right-hand curve takes us once again along the edge of the forest and meadows, soon crossing a bridge to Anhausen 03 (328 m). In the hamlet, we keep to the left and, shortly afterward, climb a few small steps to the left up to the ruins of the former St. Bartholomew Church. A path leads us up into the forest. After leaving the forest, we turn left. An unmarked meadow path takes us along fields to a trail junction: here, turn left again onto a gravel path past a cabin. Descending through fields, we leave the path marked with the red dot to the right, then immediately turn left along the edge of the forest. Turn left into the woods until we reach a picnic area, then follow the Bühlertalweg to the country road. Turning left, this road takes us into Buch 04 (386 m). We now comfortably follow Bucher Straße back. At the first houses in Städtle, turn left; after about 200 meters, turn right and follow the forest slope; finally, turn left as you exit the woods. The path takes you directly back to Vellberg 01 (369 m).
