The walker can look forward to a "scenic" tour through a traditionally cultivated cultural landscape.
Celts – Romans – Christians
In the south of St. Andrä, recognizable Celtic tumulus graves are still located in the Ettinger depression. West of the village Etting runs a Roman road. Etting was the center in early Christian times with the St. Michael's Church in the village, belonging to a "vast parish".

A scenic circular hike along the Ammer River, up to a lovely hill with a view and to the former Augustinian Canons’ Collegiate Church in Polling. ▶ The hike begins in Weilheim, next to the Ammer Bridge at the northern end of Lohgasse 01. From there, walk across to the Ammer embankment and follow the river to the southwest. After just a few minutes, you’ll pass a Celtic stone with an inscription 02. A well-maintained walking and biking path leads past the flood control weir and turns south. It then passes under the railroad bridge 03 and takes us to the Naturfreundehaus 04, which has a restaurant. The trail now follows the Ammer River for a long stretch, makes a wide left turn, and passes under a heavily trafficked road near Oderding 05. It then continues alongside the Ammer for about 1 km until you reach a paved road 06 north of the Ammerberg. Turn sharply left there and continue northeast. At the signposted spot, the detour to Ammerberg branches off to the right. First, cross over to the railroad tracks and then turn right onto a meadow path leading up to the hill with its panoramic views. From viewpoint 07, it’s another 100 meters to the unassuming highest point of the Ammerberg ( 08). From the Ammerberg, follow a well-maintained meadow path southward, passing a modern wayside shrine and walking briefly through the woods. Immediately afterward, you’ll come upon a paved road again. From there, you’d be very close to the Stoa 169 colonnade. Unfortunately, however, there’s no direct access to the artworks from our route. Turn left onto the road and head down toward the railroad tracks near St. Wolfgang. Cross the railroad tracks at the crossing, turn left briefly onto the road, and then turn right toward the Pollinger Weiher. Pass the pond on the north side, turn right, and continue straight ahead toward the south. The path runs through the forest at first, then along the forest edge next to a marshy meadow, until you reach a dirt track again. Turn left onto it and head north until just before the first houses in Polling. There, turn right and follow the path signposted for Polling. This takes us to Huglfinger Straße in Polling 09, which leads to the Tiefenbach Bridge. Turn left after the bridge and follow Weilheimer Straße to the former Augustinian Canons’ collegiate church of St. Salvator and Heilig Kreuz. Return from the church to Weilheimer Straße, pass the old Klosterwirt, and continue alongside the former monastery library. Then turn left, walk along the monastery wall, and turn right onto Prälatenweg at number 10, across from the old brickworks (restaurant). Follow this road out of town; at the town’s edge, turn left and follow the dead-straight pedestrian and bike path past the stone pillar 11 and into Weilheim. In Weilheim, cross Waisenhausstraße and pass the sports and school center. In the old town, turn left onto Murnauer Straße and immediately afterward turn right onto Pöltnerstraße. At Marienplatz 12, turn right onto Schmiedstraße, and 100 meters further ahead, turn left through the narrow Cavaliergasse. Then go through the Westtor, cross the Unterer Graben, and follow Lohgasse back to starting point 01.
