Drumlins and Dead Ice LakesThe shadier alternative to the northern part of the Hardt landscape, where we pass by drumlins and dead ice holes that were formed by the melting of stranded ice blocks. Some are dry, while others form ponds. The estates Haarsee and Rothsee, located on the lakes of the same name, were once farms of the Polling Monastery. Gut Rothsee is said to have already existed around 1200, the current building with the hipped roof dates from the second half of the 18th century. Between the lakes rise drumlins, ridges formed from deposits during another advance of the glacier ice.
