One of the most popular huts in East Tyrol is the Hochsteinhütte at 2023 m. It can be accessed by cable cars. It can be reached on a short hike from the car park, a medium-length hike from the top station of the chairlift or via the Russenweg trail from the valley floor.
The Lienzer Hütte can be reached from the Zettersfeld in a moderately difficult hike. The hut, beautifully situated in the Debanttal valley, is an ideal destination for anyone who fancies a day hike that is not too difficult.
The name alone is reason enough for a visit: the Dolomitenhütte is located in the Lienz Dolomites and can be reached either from the valley or from the car park at the end of the toll road. Situated in a spectacular landscape, the hut is also often combined with the Karlsbad hut.

As already mentioned, the Hochsteinhütte can be reached on different paths. For those in good shape, the „Russenweg“ is the path of choice. From the valley floor, the well-marked trail climbs more than 1,300 metres uphill, where the Hochsteinhütte awaits with the best food and drink.
A classic among the long hikes is the one to the Böse Weibele. The panoramic summit can be reached from the car park at the Hochsteinhütte and is a beautiful hike in the mountains.
