Fuscher Valley - Lienz - Stage 5: Wangenitzsee Hut - Lienz

From the Wangenitzsee Hut (2508 m), briefly back on the already known path to a junction between Kreuzsee and Wangenitzsee. Here turn left towards Winklerner Hut. The path leads over blockwork to the south side of the Wangenitzsee and up to the Upper Seescharte (2604 m). From the notch, descend south on a beautiful high path until the path merges into an alp road at about 1900 m. Continue initially slightly ascending on this. At Roaner Alm (1903 m) switch to the marked footpath which leads above the service road to Winklerner Hut (1906 m). Now descend on the access road and at a junction turn left onto the road towards Iselsberg. Follow this down until the footpath on the left directs to a hollow way that soon crosses the road again. Continue partly on roads, mostly on footpaths always following the signs to Iselsberg to Schöne Aussicht (1303 m). Continue on the footpath and finally on the road to the church in Iselsberg (1120 m). In Iselsberg, cross Glocknerstraße, pass the municipal center, and immediately turn right onto the lower street where the marked Kirchsteig forks left. Now pass under Glocknerstraße with an underpass and approach a farm on the left path. Above it the footpath continues near a wooden cross. After a house, turn left onto a street back to Glocknerstraße. Cross it. Finally, reach a junction by a meadow on the left. Take the left, lower alp road, which leads in a hairpin turn toward Lienz. Now always downhill until encountering houses and the federal road again. Follow this about 50 m uphill. Then immediately right onto the Roman path (marked Debant). At some houses, you reach a road again. Turn left downhill to Debant bridge (700 m), cross it and immediately turn right onto a footpath to Dorfstraße. This leads parallel to the main road through Debant. At the next intersection, keep right, then left, and continue to a small church on the edge of town. Continue straight ahead from there to Lienz (673 m). In the center, first go straight ahead, then left over Spitalsbrücke to the market square, and finally keep left toward the station.
