What makes the Grossarl Valley so special for hikers?
Grossarltal is considered one of the best valleys for hiking in Salzburger Land. One reason for this is the many farmed alpine pastures, which have earned Grossarltal the nickname "Valley of the alpine pastures". In total, there are around 40 managed alpine pastures in the Grossarl Valley, which is probably unsurpassed in the whole of Austria. A traditional alpine snack is an essential part of a hike around Grossarl. As many alpine pastures are also easily accessible via forest trails, the first few meters of altitude can also be covered on a mountain bike before starting the hike one level higher.
