Through the wild coastal mountains of Central Dalmatia Varied and ultimately scenic hike in a karst-infused landscape, where during the week we are very unlikely to encounter another soul and where, not far from the metropolis of Split, a natural spectacle of the highest quality is offered. In the no-man's land of a vanished culture, nature spreads wherever it can. Where cultivation has been abandoned, geckos now rustle in the maquis, butterflies dance in the air, and in spring the flora thrives on the calcareous soil. At the summit, the bright red bivouac tower (Vickov) makes a statement in the wilderness.

In the labyrinth of the old town and up to the green peninsula Marjan The old town of Split features an impressive range of sights, many historic buildings date back to Roman times. No one can resist the Mediterranean flair; on a mild summer evening, musical tones refine the alleys of the old town. Equally impressive is the vegetation in the forest park. In the "Green Lung" of Split, the Marjan Park, you can take a deep breath and enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and the sea. Finally, the comfortable lounge bar high above Split invites you for a drink.

Ascent to the summit of Vickov Stup 2 adults and 3 children (7,13,14). A nice tour, very interesting especially after the forest fires in summer. A great view of Split.  Still somewhat tiring on hot days, so bring plenty of water as there is no way to refill water. And head protection in summer as most of the time is spent outside the forest.   Route from “Ulica svetog Kuzme, 21251 Split” to Vickov Stup “Summit”

A very beautiful summit with a great panoramic view. Those who take good footwear and enough water and consider the midday heat can easily reach the summit. Pure nature, deserted and absolute peace!Moderate difficulty, good trail markings, paths and a scree field must be overcome.Sure-footedness and endurance in the heat are required.

> After passing barrier 01, we walk a few hundred meters along the road, then turn left onto the stairs that take us near the zoo. There, we leave the path and climb a long flight of stairs to viewing platform 02 atthe main summit of Marjan, where the Marjan Monument stands. The plateau is large, and the view is magnificent. We continue slowly downhill. We can veer left onto a footpath. There are no cyclists here. After 20 minutes, we return to the paved road. We follow the signs to the churches of Bethlehem and St. Agnes 03. This area is called Šantine Stijene. In the rocks, there’s a climbing area and a hideout in a crevice above a church. Below the church, we take the path that leads downhill. And so we reach the city of Split. Then we walk east along the streets. First, we pass the gallery 04 of the famous sculptor Meštrović. Next, we pass two beaches—Kaštelet and Ježinac—and then we turn away from the sea toward the Varoš district. This is where the flight of 300 steps begins. We follow this path. First, we walk past St. Nicholas Church 05. Then we look for the signs to the zoo. At the zoo, we meet up with the path leading uphill. We walk the last kilometer downhill along it and reach our starting point again—the barrier on Marjanski put Street.

Da kommt man wohl eher 6-7h. Sehr karges eintöniges Land, daher würde ich sagen ist eine kleinere Variante auch ausreichend. Immer den roten Zeichen folgen…
