Hikes to the city mountains of Feldkirch
Feldkirch offers a wide variety of hikes from easy to difficult and is ideal for combining a stroll through the town with a short tour of the surrounding mountains. If you have never been to Feldkirch before, you should definitely start your stay with a tour of the old town. The medieval centre is really worth seeing and also offers many small shops, good inns and nice cafés.
Then you can start exploring the city mountains that are grouped around the city. A nice, short tour leads to the Ardetzenberg, for example. This short hike can be combined with a visit to the zoo.
The second local mountain in Feldkirch is the Schellenberg. The long ridge offers numerous beautiful paths and great views of the Rhine valley and across the border into Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Also not too long but very rewarding is the hike to the Känzele, a wonderful vantage point über Feldkirch.
Hikes to the Feldkircher Hütte
For those who want to go a little higher, we recommend the hike to the Feldkircher Hütte. The hut is located at 1200 metres and is a popular meeting place for hikers and mountain bikers. From Feldkirch you have to climb about 700 metres to reach the hut. There are several options for the ascent and descent. How long does it take to hike the Three Sisters?
The hike to the Drei Schwestern (2053 m) is one of the great classics on the border between Vorarlberg and Liechtenstein. The views down into the Rhine Valley are simply stunning and make you forget all your efforts immediately. These two variants are particularly rewarding, and you should allow between four and six hours for them.
- Round tour from Amerlügen: The summit of the Three Sisters can be reached in a round tour from Amerlügen. The long hike leads past the Feldkircher Hütte and the Saroja Alpe. For this hike you need a good level of fitness and some surefootedness.
