The Brandnertal is without doubt one of the most beautiful valleys in Vorarlberg. The neighbouring valley of the Montafon lies south of Bludenz and is 12 kilometres long. In summer, the municipality of Brand and the Brandnertal present themselves as a paradise for hiking in an impressive setting: The mountains of the Rätikon rise up to almost 3000 metres. The large network of hiking trails offers something for everyone, from easy tours to challenging mountain hikes.

Difficult hikes around Brand

In view of the impressive mountains that frame the Brandnertal, it is no wonder that alpinists and fans of long, difficult hikes also feel at home here. At the end of the valley, the Schesaplana (2965 m) dominates the scenery. To climb this peak, the best physical condition and surefootedness are required. But there are also many worthwhile destinations one level further down, and long distance hikes, for example in the direction of Montafon or Nenzinger Himmel, are plentiful anyway. These three tours are among the classics among the difficult hikes around Brand:

  • Schesaplana Runde: A very difficult mountain hike with exposed passages
  • .
  • From the Lünersee into the Rellstal: Wonderful long-distance hike into the Montafon
  • .
  • Nenzinger-Himmel-Runde: Impressive round tour to the Nenzinger Himmel and back to Brand
  • .

Hikes in Bürserberg

At the entrance to the Brandnertal valley, beautiful tours are also waiting for you in Bürserberg. The idyllic village is beautifully situated on a sunny plateau and offers great views of the Walgau. Hikes to the Tschengla plateau are particularly popular, where there is plenty to discover. The easy hikes here are especially fun for the whole family. Take a look at our guidebook page and get an overview of all the hikes.
