A nunatak that split the Abduano glacier into two branches. A jagged tortoise that cuts through the northern winds and welcomes the first clouds signaling rain. These are the first images and words that can be expressed when seeing, in front of us or on a geographic map, the Lariano Triangle: climbing and crossing it is a voluntary, counter-gravitational act that allows, once at its heights, with a big breath and a single glance, to read the particular geomorphology of this part of Lombardy: ice, rivers and deep lakes, wandering rocks and ancient water and land routes. From the lake's edge, we chase the intermittent drop of fresh water hidden in the karst tunnels of Menaresta, the source of the Lambro. ...It is a little man running the Lake Como One foot in the cathedral square The belly in Menaggio, the knee in Argegno The big toe in Cernobbio, the heel in Faggeto He has the ankle in Laglio or somewhere nearby He needs to pee in Bellagio...

The "Pearl of the Lario "Bellagio has already been showered with so many compliments that it would be pointless to add another one. Flaubert wanted to die in romantic exuberance after seeing this "piece of earth consecrated by heaven" (Liszt): "On voudrait vivre ici et y mourir ...". Today, visitors to Bellagio rarely react so pathetically, but even in the early 21st century, the magic of this spot has not faded despite mass tourism. Its unique location on the narrow spit of land that separates the two southern arms of the lake is best appreciated from a boat: the wooded ridge with the historic Borgo, the lakeside promenade, and behind it the large, dignified and antiquated hotels. And then there are the parks, which are as much a part of Bellagio as its "bel lago" - fragrant wonders of blossom, especially in spring.

"Embraced" by the lake: the highest peak in the "Triangolo"The small mountain pass became famous – no surprise in cycling-crazy Italy? – thanks to the annual autumn running Giro di Lombardia. It often led over the Colma del Piano, on the old route notably with its 25% gradient. The feared ramp was called the "Wall of Sormano", and many a pro cyclist got off their bike here – to push. Mountain bikers who grind up in the lowest gear truly appreciate the achievement of Coppi, Bobet, Bahamontes, Kübler, and all the unnamed girini. The way to Monte San Primo is much less strenuous, both for bikers and hikers, on a former military road that gently ascends along the long ridge, sometimes left, sometimes right of the crest. This way you enjoy changing views of the bare heights in the Como–Bellagio–Lecco triangle ("Triangolo"), the lake, and the "second row" mountains: Resegone, Grigne, Generoso. Mainly, it is the view that makes this summit hike attractive, and therefore it should only be undertaken in clear weather.

This is a relatively easy track. Don’t expect to come across spectacular views of the lake, this is a route through the woods. We enjoyed it!
