Burgundies are our passion. Our characterful wines reflect the terroir of our homeland. Jakob Kessler, the great-grandfather of Gunter Keßler, recognized the value of the soil and climate on the Münzberg and purchased vineyards there at the end of the 19th century. Lothar Keßler, his grandson and grandfather of Friedrich Keßler, who now runs the winery with his father Gunter, expanded the estate and decided in 1974 to move the family estate with residential and production buildings to the Münzberg. There you will find our winery amid the vineyards. On 19 hectares, we primarily grow Pinot grapes. More than 30% White Burgundy, followed by Gray Burgundy, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and of course, Riesling. We ferment our white wines in stainless steel tanks, except for the Chardonnay, which, like our red wines, is fermented and aged in barrique barrels. Our barriques are made of Palatinate oak. We produce around 120,000 bottles annually, including our sparkling wines. Additionally, we distill pomace and fruit brandies from pears, apples, mirabelles, and quinces that grow in our garden and fields. We are members of the VDP and the “Five Winemakers Five Friends,” the first wine-boy group founded more than 30 years ago.
