Family winery Jülg. Here, Werner along with his son Johannes Jülg cultivate around 25 hectares of organic vineyard. The focus of the selection is on the Pinot grape varieties as well as Riesling.
A curiosity – due to history, 50% of the vineyards in Wissembourg are located on French territory. This is why a passport had to be carried along during vineyard work before the Schengen area. Today, the two German/French border crossers unite the best of two cultures. Day after day.
While Werner is responsible for sparkling wine production with much patience and dedication, Johannes, after his many years of training at renowned wineries in Germany and France, imparts a distinctive character to the wines: elegant, precise, and above all terroir-focused. Wines that stand like monuments in the glass and leave a lasting impression. Hand harvesting is standard, the grapes are processed gently, and during aging, depending on the grape variety, a mix of stainless steel tank, traditional Palatinate barrel, oak tonneau, or barrique is used. Only in this way can the terroir and the location be transported naturally and gently into the bottle.
Driven by pure passion and ambition, Werner and Johannes work meticulously with utmost care in the vineyard and cellar. Since the takeover by the young generation, the winery has experienced a new dynamic, which has not gone unnoticed even within the ranks of the VDP – since 2021, the winery has been a member of the prestigious association of quality wine estates of Germany.
