Sabine and Gerd Bernhart run the winery in the 4th generation. The neighboring house has been added to the actual farm and today, carefully renovated, serves as a contemporary rehearsal room. The estate's vineyards, two- thirds of which are located in Alsace, have been in the family for 100 years in some cases.
We place great emphasis on harvesting as late as possible and processing the grapes gently. The white wines are fermented cool and thus impress with purity, lively fruit and freshness. The red wines ferment with the skins and then reach the necessary maturity in wooden barrels. This may require a stay of up to 24 months. We also pay attention to the sparkling of our wines according to the classical method, as well as to the distillation of noble distilates.
Those who live and work across borders learn to be patient. You deal openly with different ways of life and feel enriched by them rather than threatened. We are at home in Schweigen at the southernmost tip of the Southern Wine Route, have vineyards over in the Palatinate as well as over in Alsace. And we agree with our neighbors about the good life.
We work in and with nature. It sets the rhythm for us and, if we treat it carefully, gives us its treasures. Ecological viticulture relies on a fruitful partnership between all those involved in the vineyard. We promote species-rich greenery and vibrant soil life. This diversity ensures a healthy balance between beneficial insects and pests.
