The hike leads us from the Palfries mountain station over the Alp Riet to the Gonzen summit cross. From here we have a phenomenal view of the surrounding mountains and the Rhine Valley.

We take the cable car up to the Palfries plateau. Various routes to the Hotel Kurhaus Sennis are available to us. We decide on the route via Alp Castilu with a possible stop at the mountain restaurant Stralrüfi (alternatively via Alp Malun, see separate route description).

We hike from the Palfries mountain station to the Hotel Kurhaus Sennis. Up to the former Kurhaus, there is the option to choose the hiking trail via Alp Malun or via Alp Castilu. From the Hotel Kurhaus Sennis, the descent or return path follows mainly natural roads and hiking trails to the Palfries valley station.

The hike leads from the Palfries mountain station to the Gonzen mountain inn. The descent takes place via the Lanaberg to Sargans.
