English: The Kummerstal crag lies hidden in a small woody valley and provides good climbing possibilities especially when days are getting and staying hot. The Wachauergrat which starts next to the Kummerstal crag provides perfect 'plaisir climbing' on up to 17 pitches in the 4th to 6th grade (You can make it more difficult using the sport climbing alternative pitches) - a must do for every Wachauclimber! Note that on weekends the route can get crowded due to its, already gathered, cult status in eastern Austria. Routes on the Kummerstalturm and Ruck-Zuck Wandl are mostly short, steep and crimpy. Rope: 40 - 50m Gear: 12 Slings / Helmet Exposure: South West / Shade in the woods / Sun on the Wachauergrat Character: Slabby and Steep

Approach

English: After parking at km 122 on the Danube-Bundesstrasse 3 (three houses after the tunnel in Dürnstein coming from Krems) cross the railway and walk into the small valley (Kummerstal) for approximately 10 to 15 minutes to reach the Kummerstal crags. To reach the Wachauergrat follow the same path for a few minutes.
