theCrag Verified partner
theCrag is the world's leading climbing and bouldering platform, providing information on more than 880,000 routes, 38,300 topos, and thousands of climbing areas. The climbing community gathers all of the information and makes it accessible to theCrag's community free of charge. As well as finding information on climbing areas, users can also record their ascents using their own climbing logbook. Outdooractive and theCrag have been partnering since 2021 to make a large amount of highiquality, climbing-relevant content from theCrag accessible on the Outdooractive platform.
Cooperation between Outdooractive and theCrag
This cooperation brings together two heavyweights with a common cause. Outdooractive's greatest strength lies in outdoor sports such as hiking, mountaineering, cycling, mountain biking and winter sports. We have set ourselves the goal of providing our users with a holistic set of activities, including climbing. By partnering with theCrag, this has now become a reality and the climbing content we presently have on the Outdooractive platform will be hugely expanded as a result. Outdooractive has not been as specialized as theCrag with its huge climbing data structure and so we are thrilled to be able to present this content on our platform.
Creating routes and the climbing logbook
theCrag enables users to add and update climbing routes, climbing areas and crags. These activities will remain exclusive to theCrag. Meanwhile, on the Outdooractive platform, you will be able to add and publish alpine climbing routes using the existing Outdooractive format. Routes you've done can be saved in the 'Previously completed' list on your profile page in order for you to keep track of what you've already accomplished. theCrag's specific focus on climbers allows you to compile and list routes in even greater detail. Climbers can enter their achievements in their own climbing logbook with detailed information about the type of climb, partner, date, grade, etc. In the Climber Performance Rating (CPR), the climber's overall performance and progress can be viewed in a detailed visualization.
Do I have to pay to access this content?
No. As on theCrag, all content will be available on Outdooractive free of charge, thus ensuring we remain true to the motto “...by the climbing community for the climbing community and accessible for free to everyone!“
