Bikepacking routes in Oder-Spree

The Oder-Neisse Cycle Route or D-Route 12 runs along the German-Polish border from Zittau to the Baltic Sea.

The Europaroute, or D-Route 3, runs right through Germany from the Dutch to the Polish border.

This is our summer bike tour 2012. We cycled comfortably in five days through the Oder-Spree lake district and the beautiful Spreewald. The route is mostly on signposted long-distance cycle paths, but also has some short passages on busy country roads. The wide, sparsely populated landscape in the east of Brandenburg really impressed us.

The Berlin-Szczecin-Kołobrzeg cycling route has a total length of around 800 km on both the Polish and German sides. In the Uckermark, the cycling route runs along the Oder through the Lower Oder Valley National Park.

Tour Brandenburg is the longest signposted regional cycling route in Germany, stretching for an impressive 1,111 kilometres. The section from Cottbus to Eberswalde covers around 250 kilometres through eastern Brandenburg and showcases the region's diverse landscapes of lakes, forests, quiet towns and protected natural areas. Most of the route follows dedicated cycle paths and low-traffic roads, making it comfortable and enjoyable for touring cyclists. It is a journey defined by nature, space and tranquillity rather than by major tourist hotspots.

Our comeback across the Oder was a resounding success, as for this special occasion, we chose Brandenburg, where we once began our exploration of Germany by bike. From the 7,000 kilometers of bike paths and dozens of routes in Brandenburg, we selected the nearly 300-kilometer Oder-Spree Tour. The Oder-Spree Tour is a four-day loop through the forests, lakes, rivers and canals of the Oder-Spree Lakeland, stretching between Frankfurt (Oder) and Berlin. The name Oder-Spree-Tour should be understood more as a reference to the Oder-Spree Lakeland (Seenland Oder-Spree) area lying between these rivers, rather than a bike route that runs along their courses.
