Oder-Neisse Cycle Route
To the sea along the rivers
Both cyclists and the rivers Oder and Neisse have the sea as their destination. Up to the border with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a cycle path follows from the Czech Republic via Brandenburg. From here it is not far to the island of Usedom, where fine sandy beaches and the sea are waiting to be explored.
Author’s recommendation
Especially worth seeing is the typical Western Pomeranian architecture of the colonist villages in the Riether Winkel and the resort architecture on Usedom.

The Oder-Neisse Route is continuously signposted, but the signage is not always consistent. Near the coast there are some sections that are difficult to cycle on, consisting of unpaved forest and field paths.

Roadbook
It starts in the Jizera Mountains: The source of the Neisse offers varied uphill and downhill rides with enchanting views. North of Frankfurt (Oder), the Neisse flows into the Oder, whose dikes are equipped with good cycle paths. Shortly before the border with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the cycle path leaves the Oder, which continues its way to the Szczecin Lagoon on the Polish side.
In Western Pomerania, you will be greeted by seven idyllic lakes. Through the wonderfully blooming meadows and green fields of the Randowbruch it continues to Krackow with its typical Western Pomeranian architecture. On the edge of the quiet Randow valley lies the small town of Löcknitz, inviting you to dream with the gentle murmur of the river and the buzzing of bees. Guarded by a thousand-year-old oak, the shore of Lake Löcknitz offers a place to rest.
At Glashütte begins the Ueckermünde Heath – a green sea whose pleasant scent of forests and water lets people breathe freely again. The eponymous town of Ueckermünde impresses with its beautiful Renaissance castle and lively harbor. The route then leads along the Szczecin Lagoon to the lily valley town of Anklam, accompanied by countless water birds. Small bays and glowing fields of rapeseed shape the pristine hinterland of the island of Usedom. The seaside resort of Ahlbeck, the destination of this cycling trip, belongs to the Kaiserbäder. These present themselves in finest resort architecture, with a wide promenade, villas of the golden age, elegant piers and endlessly long beaches.
