Ottersheimer Teilungswehr
The Teilungswehr is a place, built in 1772 which seperates the water of the little river of Queich into two branches, the river of Queich and the smaller river of Spiegelbach. Nowadays it is a nice place to take a brake after cycling along the Queichtal-Radweg, specialy in summer time. The cold water cools hot feet and legs. Here you can explore the world of small and rare insects like dragonflys. In May and June numerous storks enjoy the medows along the Queich because of good chest-conditions. For a few days the water of the Queich floods the banks of this small side-river of Rhine by canals and weirs. This increases the quality and quantity of hay. A spectacular view! The acricultural technique was priced in 2018 as UNESCO Cultural Hertiage.
