Forests around Bucharest - a perfect getaway
The forests around Bucharest are part of a larger ancient forest, which once covered the most part of southern Romania. The remaining forested areas now bear the same name as the localities which they border - Pustnicu Forest, Snagov Forest, Râioasa Forest, Băneasa Forest. The alleys here or the shores of the lakes are perfect for walking or cycling, while a few well-maintained parks are good for relaxing: horseback riding centers or adventure parks add to the list of noteworthy places.
Although they no longer have the greatness of yore, the woods are ideal for fun in nature, with friends or family, while also keeping the kids interested and busy.
Exploring tourist attractions in Ilfov
If you prefer indoor activities, Therme pools are one of the most popular choices. The Piscu School Museum offers pottery or linocut lessons, as well as various special and extremely interesting educational programs for the little ones.
A special category of attractions is the few princely palaces - a testimony of the rulers who have passed through these lands. In addition to visiting the actual palace, their domains are excellent for promenades.

The miliary forts and batteries built at the end of the 19th century around Bucharest make up for a special category of tourist attractions in Ilfov. Although only a few can be visited on a regular basis (especially Fort no. 13 or the 9th Battery), history, urban treasures or even photography enthusiasts often set off in search of them near the Bucharest ring road. For the full experience, we recommend you join a guided tour - it guarantees you will actually find the first, plus learn a lot of details.
