In the village, however, the main point of interest is the Spa Park, a vast manicured garden full of centuries-old essences, which revolves around the wonderful Habsburg-style villa built at the end of the 19th century, and inside which is housed a museum. If in spring and summer the park is dressed in the thousands of colors of the flowers that are grown there, at Christmas time it glows with the lights of the famous Christmas market, which is very popular and visited every year.
In addition to the spa, the town charms with its late 19th-century charm mixed with modern style, craft stores, and local cuisine. Worth visiting, for example, is the parish church of the Most Holy Redeemer, located in the upper part of the town. It was erected in the 13th century and then rebuilt in the 19th century. Inside you can admire the historiated and colored stained glass windows, and where tall columns support the Romanesque arched and vaulted structure.
The 13th-century small church of San Biagio, located slightly outside the village in an archeological area yet to be explored on a hill, has long been a pilgrimage site and contains remarkable 14th-16th-century frescoes.
As well as Levico, the hamlet of Vetriolo Terme, at an altitude of about one thousand five hundred meters, is rich in thermal springs and has its own establishment; this allows it to have the title of the highest thermal resort in Europe. The hamlet offers the possibility of visiting the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Snow, characterized by the large portico that follows the entire length of the nave and invites contemplation.
In its territory, moreover, you can admire the sculpture "Lupadel Lagorai," a work by Marco Martalar, made with wood from the storm Vaia, which caused great destruction in these areas in 2018.
Excursions in Levico Terme: not only the lake
In addition to the beautiful and pleasant hike that follows the shores of Lake Levico, which we have already mentioned, and the shorter Stradina dei Pescatori, a simple lakeside walk, in the municipality of Levico Termemany other attractive hiking routes await you, for example, the walk to the Forte delle Benne, starting from the center of Levico Terme, the hike to the scenic Cima Panarotta peak, and the walk to the Tenna hill, located between Lake Levico and Lake Caldonazzo, to discover the small church of San Valentino and the Fort of Tenna.
There are other interesting routes around the Vezzena Plateau area, such as the two "malghe" tours, the first of which can also be done by mountain bike, that wind through pastures and forests to discover the local dairy farms.
Longer and more challenging but also scenic, however, is the loop hike around Cima Vezzena, which touches Passo Vezzena, Forte Vezzena and Forte Verle. Another hike also passes through Cima Vezzena, which, taking part of the Sentiero della Pace (Peace Trail) and SAT trails 209, 208 and 206, allows you to cross the entire Cima Dodici chain and offers one of the most beautiful views in southern Trentino.
Less long but equally difficult is also the nearby Sentér del Menadór, a scenic hike that connects Santa Giuliana to the Vézzena Plateau, crossing the wild Val Pissavacca and passing through Baita Cangi and Monterovere.
In Levico Teme by mountain bike
The conformation of the territory of Levico Terme also allows you to organize beautiful routes with your mountain bike. Among the most popular routes are:
- the Pizzo di Levico tour, a fairly easy route that, once at the top, allows you to admire the splendid views of Lake Levico and Lake Caldonazzo;
- the Pozze tour, a challenging route that unravels in the southern part of the Lagorai chain, and revolves around the peaks of Panarotta, Fravort and Gronlait;
- the tour of the Levico and Caldonazzo lakes, between the blue waters and the deep green vegetation, which also touches the hill where Pergine Castle stands.
Snowshoeing and ski touring in Levico Terme
Even in winter Levico Terme has much to offer sportsmen and women. Such as, for example, the snowshoeing trail on the Vezzena Plateau, where in a kind of sea of snow some lonely fir trees and the roofs of the "malghe" (shepherd's huts) sprout, or the snowshoeing trail that winds through the larch trees at the beginning, then comes out in the clearing of the La Bassa locality, at an altitude of 1,900 meters.
If you love cross-country skiing (and are experienced), you can try the long and challenging route from Millegrobbe to Campolongo, again across the Vezzena Plateau, touching on the Trugole, Posellaro and Mandrielle malgas.
