Discover the region

The geographical location of Solms is ideal for outdoor activities. In summer, you can hike or cycle along the picturesque landscapes and enjoy the breathtaking view of Braunfels Castle. For water sports enthusiasts, there are opportunities for canoeing on the Lahn. In winter, skiing is a great option in the nearby mountains.

Solms also has a rich history to offer, including Braunfels Castle as well as the 12th century Altenberg Monastery with its impressive architecture and works of art. The local history museum shows the local cultural history of the region.

Cultural highlights are also an important part of Solms' tourism industry, especially during the annual town festival "Braunfelser Burgfest" in July, where you can experience music, dance and theatre performances. There are also regular concerts such as jazz concerts at Hofgut Hermannstein or classical music events in churches around the town.

If it rains, there are still plenty of indoor activities to choose from such as museum visits or a day at a spa with sauna facilities to relax.

Another highlight is the culinary scene - try regional specialities such as Handkäse mit Musik (a cheese dish with onions and vinegar) or cider in one of the traditional inns.

Solms is worth a visit at any time of year, but is especially beautiful in spring when the flowers bloom and the landscape turns green. A walk through Braunfels Castle Park is a must during this time.

Overall, Solms offers its visitors a mix of nature, history, art and culinary delights - everything you would expect from a destination. We hope you enjoyed our travel tips and look forward to welcoming you here soon!
