Maps and trails
Geographically, Sehlde is located between the cities of Braunschweig and Hildesheim on the edge of the Harz Mountains. The surrounding area is characterised by picturesque landscapes with rolling hills, forests and rivers. The numerous half-timbered houses that characterise the townscape are particularly impressive.

There are many sights to see here: Wolfenbüttel Castle with its baroque façade is definitely worth a visit. The Lessinghaus, where the famous poet Gotthold Ephraim Lessing lived and worked, also attracts thousands of tourists every year. For art lovers, a trip to the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum or the Kunsthalle Emden is recommended.

The region around Sehlde also offers cultural highlights: in summer, open-air festivals are held regularly or you can enjoy nature on a hike on the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg.

Those who enjoy culinary discoveries will also find what they are looking for here: In many restaurants around Sehlde you will find regional specialities such as kale with pinkel or labskaus - a type of mashed potato with a side of meat.

For outdoor activities, the nearby Elm-Lappwald forest is particularly suitable as a hiking and cycling area. In winter, you can also go skiing or sledging here.

Even if it rains, there is plenty to do in Sehlde: The Wolfenbüttel Castle Museum offers many interesting exhibitions and the cinema in the village shows current films.

The most beautiful thing about Sehlde, however, is the peace and relaxation you will find here. Whether it's a walk through the forest or a cosy dinner in one of the many restaurants - this destination is definitely worth a visit.

Our Travel Guide recommends a visit from April to October, as that's when the weather is best for outdoor activities. The Elm-Lappwald as well as the Harz Mountains offer numerous opportunities for hiking, cycling or canoeing on the river Oker at this time.

Sehlde, Wolfenbüttel - a little jewel in Lower Saxony!

=> Tolle Tour
