Geographically, Schliengen is located between the Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains on the edge of the Markgräflerland. The region is known for its picturesque vineyards and idyllic landscape with numerous hiking and cycling trails.

Touristically relevant are above all the historical buildings such as Bürgeln Castle or the St. Leodegar Church from the 12th century. A visit to the local history museum is also worthwhile to learn more about the history of the region.

Cultural highlights are also plentiful: one highlight is certainly the annual wine festival in August and the traditional Advent market in winter. For music lovers, a visit to a concert in the Kulturscheune or on the Burgplatz is recommended.

The culinary specialities of the region should definitely be tried: Whether asparagus dishes in spring or game specialities in autumn - here gourmets get their money's worth! Another popular speciality are the regional wines, which have been cultivated in this area for centuries.

For outdoor activities, hiking and cycling are particularly suitable - along rivers, through meadows or vineyards it is wonderful to relax. In summer, you can also go swimming at various bathing lakes in the area. In winter, the nearby ski areas are a great place for winter sports.

Even in rainy weather, there is plenty to do in Schliengen: a visit to the thermal baths in Bad Bellingen or a trip to nearby Freiburg offer variety and relaxation.

The most beautiful time in Schliengen is probably in spring, when nature awakens and everything is green and in bloom. But you can also spend wonderful days here in summer - especially at one of the numerous lakes in the region. Autumn, on the other hand, attracts with its colourful vineyards and culinary delights as well as the traditional harvest festival.

All in all, Schliengen is definitely worth a trip for anyone who longs for a relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle!
