Discover the region

The geographical location of Plau am See makes it an ideal place for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The town is located directly on a picturesque lake and surrounded by dense forests that invite you to go hiking, cycling or canoeing.

One of the most important sights is Plau am See Castle from the 16th century as well as the historic old town with its winding alleys and half-timbered houses. Another highlight is the numerous boat trips on Lake Plau or along the Elde Canal.

Cultural highlights are also plentiful: visit the Alte Kellerei museum, for example, or enjoy an evening in the theatre under the roof - you are guaranteed not to get bored here!

Plau am See also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine: Try typical Mecklenburg dishes such as Labskaus or Rote Grütze (red fruit jelly) in one of the cosy local restaurants.

For activities in bad weather, a visit to the Müritz National Park with its impressive animal and plant kingdom and varied exhibitions on nature and environmental protection topics is particularly suitable.

And where is the most beautiful place in Plau am See? Quite clearly: on the shore of the lake, where you can enjoy the fresh air and the clear water. Especially in summer, it's a real highlight here - but a visit is also worthwhile at other times of the year.

Overall, Plau am See is definitely worth a trip and offers something suitable for every taste. Use this travel guide as inspiration for your next trip!
