Geographical location and special features: Ostramondra is located in the federal state of Thuringia, about 20 kilometres southeast of Erfurt. The town is known for its picturesque half-timbered houses and Ostramondra Castle, which was built as early as the 12th century. Sömmerda, on the other hand, is located northwest of Erfurt and scores with its idyllic landscape along the Unstrut.

Tourist attractions: An absolute highlight in Ostramondra is the castle with its magnificent baroque garden. Here you can not only admire impressive architecture, but also stroll through the garden or relax on a bench. In Sömmerda you should definitely take a look at the historic old town - here you will find numerous well-preserved buildings from the Middle Ages as well as a local history museum that is well worth seeing.

Cultural highlights and events: When it comes to culture, both towns are in an excellent position: In Ostramondra there are regular concerts, theatre performances or readings to attend. Cultural events such as exhibitions or lectures are also on the programme in Sömmerda. A special event takes place every year at the end of August: The Ostramondra Castle Festival attracts visitors with music, dancing and culinary delights.

Culinary specialities: There are numerous restaurants and cafés in both towns offering regional specialities. Be sure to try Thüringer Rostbratwurst or a hearty potato soup - typical dishes of the region!

Outdoor activities: For nature lovers, an excursion to the Hainich National Park, which is only a few kilometres away from Sömmerda, is a must. Here you can go on extensive hikes through the UNESCO World Heritage Site and discover rare animal and plant species. Ostramondra itself also has some beautiful walks along the Unstrut River or through the surrounding forests.

When is it most beautiful? The best time to travel to Ostramondra and Sömmerda are the months of May to September: then nature blossoms, the weather is pleasantly mild and many events take place. If you want to travel in autumn, you should pack warm clothes - but then the landscape also shows its golden side.

Summary: Ostramondra and Sömmerda are definitely worth a trip! Here you can expect not only a picturesque landscape but also cultural highlights as well as culinary delights. Whether in sunshine or rain - these two towns offer you something special at any time of year!

Wer möglichst keinem Menschen begegnen will, ist hier genau richtig.
