Described by locals as the best location in Germany, this small municipality makes up for its size with its large offering of outdoor activities and beautiful scenery.
Known for its world renowned professional winter sports facilities it also offers ski fields which are enjoyed by locals and the many tourists who visit the area. In summer the mountains become the playground of hikers and bikers alike.
After a long day in the sun you may like to visit the main street which offers local food, boutique groceries and a classic ice cream shop.
The other benifit of this municipality is its central location to other attractions within the region. The city of Sonthofen is a short drive as is Oberstdorf. And if you’re feeling adventurous the winding roads to Austria could be calling.

Active at any time of year
The Ofterschwang-Gunzesried two-valley ski area is known throughout the region. Its 18 km of pistes are mainly suitable for families. However, professionals also get their money's worth on the challenging World Cup course.
The Ofterschwanger Horn is also a mountain for active people and connoisseurs in summer: panoramic hikes are just as possible here as a game of disc golf or a downhill scooter ride.
Culture and cuisine
The calendar of events in Ofterschwang is packed - village theater, yodeling evenings and morning pints with the alphorn players are just some of the events.
The "Gutes vom Dorf" ("Good from the village") seal of approval is a sign of the high quality of the products on offer in the mountain huts and restaurants. Foodstuffs such as mountain cheese or ice cream in the Ofterschwang ice cream store are guaranteed to come from the region.
