Discover the region

Geographical location and special features: Ochsenhausen is located in the southwest of Germany and is surrounded by rolling hills and green meadows. The town has a rich history with numerous historical buildings such as the Ochsenhausen Monastery or the town church of St. Georg.

Tourist attractions: The Ochsenhausen Monastery is a must for every visitor. It was founded in the 11th century and today houses an impressive collection of works of art and a library with over 80,000 books. Another place of interest is the local history museum "Haus des Gastes", which gives an insight into the life of people in earlier times. The town church of St. Georg should also be visited - it dates back to the 15th century and has beautiful frescoes on the ceilings.

Cultural highlights and events: Ochsenhausen regularly hosts cultural events such as concerts or theatre performances in the "Zehntscheuer" cultural centre. In summer, the popular music festival "Oxjam" also takes place every year.

Culinary specialities: The region around Ochsenhausen offers many culinary delicacies, such as the famous "Oberschwäbische Spätzle" or the "Allgäuer Käse". The beer from the local brewery is also highly recommended.

Outdoor activities: The countryside around Ochsenhausen is perfect for hiking and cycling tours. Especially beautiful are the tours through the nearby Federsee nature reserve, which is also a popular destination for birdwatchers. In winter, you can go skiing or snowboarding in the nearby ski areas such as the Hündle near Oberstaufen.

What do you do in Ochsenhausen when it rains? There are plenty of things to do even in bad weather: A visit to the local museum, a guided tour of the monastery or a concert at the cultural centre guarantee an interesting day.

Where is it most beautiful in Ochsenhausen? The view of the town from the Schlossberg is particularly beautiful. There is also a viewing platform here with a breathtaking panorama of the region.
