Geographically, Oberammergau is located at the foot of the Ammergau Alps and is surrounded by picturesque forests. It is known for its traditional woodcarvings and the world-famous Passion Play, which only takes place every ten years.

The tourist attractions in Oberammergau are numerous. Visit the Pilatushaus Museum, where you can learn more about the history of the village, or stroll through the narrow streets of the village and admire the magnificent facades of the houses with their artistic Lüftlmalereien.

One cultural highlight in Oberammergau is undoubtedly the Passion Plays. These have been performed since the 17th century and attract thousands of visitors from all over the world every time. The next performance will take place in 2030 - an experience not to be missed!

Culinary delights also abound in Oberammergau: try the local beer, for example, or enjoy hearty Bavarian specialities such as pork knuckle or Kaiserschmarrn.

There is also plenty to do for outdoor enthusiasts: Hiking, cycling or skiing - depending on the season, there is always something different on offer here! In summer, we recommend hikes through the Ammergau Alps or a bike tour along the picturesque Forggensee lake. In winter, you can take your turns on the surrounding ski slopes.

And what do you do in Oberammergau when it rains? Visit the Wellenberg leisure pool with its various saunas and pools, for example, or take a trip to nearby Garmisch-Partenkirchen and visit the Richard Strauss Museum.

Where is the most beautiful place in Oberammergau? That's hard to say - every place has its own charm! But we recommend that you stop by the Passion Play stage on your walk through the village: Many famous actors have played here!

Summarising: Oberammergau is definitely worth a visit! Whether cultural highlights, culinary delights or outdoor activities - everyone gets their money's worth here. We hope that this travel guide will help you make your stay in Oberammergau unforgettable!
