Geographically, Neustadt i. Sa. lies on the edge of the Ore Mountains and Saxon Switzerland, surrounded by picturesque landscapes and impressive rock formations. The town is known for its historic old town with numerous half-timbered houses as well as the adjacent spa park.

Sights relevant to tourism include Weesenstein Castle, a baroque residence complex from the 18th century, and Hohnstein Castle with its medieval architecture and beautiful view of the surrounding area.

Cultural highlights are offered by various museums such as the local history museum or the museum on the history of the GDR, as well as regular events such as concerts or theatre performances in the "Tivoli" cultural centre.

For culinary specialities, we recommend the traditional Saxon cuisine with dishes such as Sauerbraten or Quarkkeulchen, as well as local specialities such as beer from the Radeberger brewery or wine from the nearby Elbe Valley.

The best outdoor activities can vary depending on the season: In summer, hiking in Saxon Switzerland is a good option, or a trip to the Malter reservoir for swimming and water sports. In winter, you can go skiing in Altenberg or cross-country skiing in the surrounding area.

If the weather doesn't cooperate, there is still plenty to do: For example, visit the Haus des Gastes adventure world with indoor playground and cinema or relax in the "Mariba" thermal baths.

The most beautiful time in Neustadt i. Sa. is certainly in spring, when nature awakens and the flowering season begins. But a visit is also a good idea in autumn, when the trees turn colourful and you can go for leisurely walks.

All in all, Neustadt i. Sa., Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge district is definitely worth a trip for all nature lovers and culturally interested people alike!
