Get on your bike...
A must for all cycling fans: the Moselle Cycle Route. Stretching over 275 kilometers, it follows the river from Perl on the French-German border all the way to the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz. This route winds through romantic wine towns, medieval castles, and sun-drenched vineyards – a must-see in any Moselle travel guide! It’s the perfect blend of nature, culture, and indulgence, making every stage a memorable experience.
After a day full of impressions, bike-friendly hosts welcome you with warm Moselle hospitality, a glass of Riesling, or some freshly fermented Federweißer. Best of all, even travelers without a car can start their journey easily thanks to the RegioRadler bike shuttle or public transport. A top travel tip for anyone who loves active holidays with a touch of pleasure!
...and into the hiking boots!
For those who would like to add additional impressions to the hiking experience on the Moselsteig – or who prefer to explore the region on circular trails instead of hiking in stages from place to place, the numerous partner trails of the Moselsteig offer the best conditions. The partner trails are marked as „side trails”, such as the Leiermannspfad, or as dream trails, such as the Schwalberstieg. They allow hikers to explore the many facets of the region in a half-day or day tour away from the Moselsteig.
Enjoyment in the Moselle Valley
The food on the Moselle is as much influenced by wine as by nearby France. But the rustic cuisine in the Moselle valley also offers plenty of hearty dishes. Special mention must be made of the speciality pomace meat, which is marinated for several days and for which every chef has his or her own secret recipe. Debbekoche, a casserole made mainly of potatoes, pancetta and eggs, is also popular in the region. Gourmets will be delighted with Riesling soup, pike perch or Riesling wine jelly. Other typical dishes from the Moselle valley are onion tart, Krommbierewurscht, Gräwes or Krumpernschnietcher.
