Lohmen

Geographically, Lohmen is located at the foot of the Saxon Switzerland National Park and is an ideal starting point for hiking or cycling tours through the breathtaking landscape. The region is known for its impressive sandstone cliffs, gorges and valleys, as well as the Elbe River, which meanders majestically through the valley.

Tourist attractions include the historic town centre with its lovingly restored half-timbered houses, as well as Lohmen Castle from the 17th century, which is now used as a museum. Churches such as the St. Jost Church or the Evangelical Lutheran Church are also worth a visit.

Cultural highlights include the annual wine festival in summer and various concerts and theatre performances in the "Goldener Stern" cultural centre. Culinary guests are spoilt in numerous restaurants with regional specialities such as beef soup with liver spareribs or potato soup with bockwurst.

Those who like to be active can explore the national park on various hiking routes or relax on a boat trip on the Elbe. In winter, ski resorts such as Altenberg attract visitors for skiing or snowboarding.
