Discover the region

Geographically, Lautertal lies on the edge of the Franconian Forest Nature Park and is crossed by the Lauter River. The region is characterised by rolling hills, dense forests and idyllic valleys - a paradise for hikers and nature lovers.

The most important tourist attractions are Tambach Castle, an impressive Renaissance fortress with a beautiful park; the ruins of Lauenstein Castle with its panoramic view of the valley; as well as the St.Jakobus church from the 16th century.

Cultural highlights in the region also include the chocolate museum Puppenhausmuseum in Neustadt bei Coburg or the historic market square in Sonneberg. Those who prefer sporting activities can let off steam by cycling or hiking: The well-known Rennsteig hiking trail leads directly through the region.

For gourmets, there are culinary delights such as traditional Thuringian bratwurst or regional dishes like "Coburger Klöße", potato dumplings filled with meat or vegetables. Another highlight is the local wine growing along the banks of the Main.

In summer you can enjoy outdoor activities such as canoeing on the river Lauer, while in winter the region is a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders. Lautertal offers leisure activities all year round, even in bad weather there are numerous museums or indoor activities such as climbing in the high ropes course.

Lautertal, district of Coburg - worth a visit! Visit this enchanting area with its wide range of sights, activities and culinary delights. A travel guide for every taste!
