Geographically, Lauterstein is located on the edge of the Swabian Alb biosphere area, which makes it an ideal starting point for hiking and cycling tours. The region is also famous for its numerous caves that can be visited. One of the most famous of these is the Charlottenhöhle cave with its impressive stalactite formations.

Culturally, Lauterstein has a lot to offer: Today, Rechberg Castle houses a museum on the history of the region as well as a lookout tower with spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Concerts are also held here regularly in summer.

If you want to indulge in culinary delights, you should definitely visit one of the many traditional inns and try local specialities such as Maultaschen or Spätzle.

Outdoors, there are many opportunities for hiking, climbing or mountain biking - the spring and autumn months are particularly good for this. In the winter months, the nearby Hohenstaufen ski area beckons with slopes of all levels of difficulty.

No one need be bored even in bad weather: The Beuren thermal spa invites you to relax or you can take a trip to nearby Ulm.

Lauterstein is a destination that has something to offer for everyone and is definitely worth a trip. Use this travel guide as an orientation aid and let yourself be inspired by the diverse possibilities!
