Lauf lies on the western edge of the Black Forest and is surrounded by picturesque hills. The community has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Today it is known for its idyllic landscape with numerous hiking and cycling trails through forests and vineyards.

Sights relevant to tourism include the 13th-century Lichtenberg Castle with its impressive tower and castle chapel, as well as the historic 16th-century town hall with its magnificent façade.

Cultural highlights include the annual wine festival in August and the traditional Easter bonfire in spring. A visit to the local museum is also worthwhile: it displays exhibits on the history of the region as well as works of art by local artists.

The culinary specialities of Lauf are mainly hearty dishes such as schnitzel or Maultaschen - perfect after a strenuous hiking tour! The local winegrowing is also a special highlight: be sure to try the fruity Pinot Gris or the full-bodied Pinot Noir directly from a local vintner!

For outdoor activities, Lauf offers the best conditions all year round: In spring and summer, the numerous hiking and cycling trails invite you to take long tours through the vineyards, while in autumn the forest delights with its colourful hues. Lauf is also worth a visit in winter: then you can go skiing or cross-country skiing on the nearby slopes of the Hornisgrinde skiing area.

If it should ever rain, Lauf also has some indoor options such as the swimming pool or a bowling alley.

The most beautiful time in Lauf is certainly during the grape harvest season in late summer, when the slopes around the town turn golden and you can enjoy the sunset with a glass of local wine.

So Lauf is definitely worth a trip - whether for active holidaymakers or culture fans! Hopefully, this travel guide has helped you to plan your trip to Lauf in the best possible way.
