The region is also known for its culinary delights - be sure to try the famous Hunsrück spit roast or enjoy a freshly tapped beer in one of the cosy inns.

For cultural highlights, you should visit Birkenfeld Castle, one of the most important baroque castles in Germany. Art lovers will be delighted with the numerous galleries and museums. Another highlight are the annual festivals such as the Medieval Festival in summer or the Wine Festival in autumn.

Even if the weather is bad, there is plenty to discover: Visit the mineral museum in Idar-Oberstein, for example, or take a guided tour of the historic old town of Trier.

When it comes to outdoor activities, spring and summer are particularly recommended as the best seasons. The nearby Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park invites you to go hiking and offers breathtaking views of the landscape around Kirschweiler. In winter, skiers can put their skills to the test on the slopes of the nearby Erbeskopf.

Kleiner Tipp; ausreichend Wasser mitnehmen!

Sehr schöne Tour. Durchaus anspruchsvoll durch 2-3 längere Anstiege. Abwechslungsreich. Vielleicht ein paar breite Wege zu viel. Tolle Aussichten.
