Situated between Hamburg and Lübeck, Horst offers an idyllic location on the banks of the Elbe River as well as numerous lakes and forests in the immediate vicinity. The region is known for its picturesque half-timbered houses, historic mills and romantic castles.

The tourist attractions include in particular Reinbek Castle with its impressive baroque garden and the Trittau watermill, which today serves as a museum. Cultural highlights include the annual jazz festival in summer and various art exhibitions in Reinbek Castle or the Alte Apotheke gallery. Those who prefer culinary delights should definitely try regional specialities such as kale with pinkel or labskaus.
