Discover the region

Geographically, Hiltpoltstein lies on the edge of the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park and is surrounded by picturesque hills. The town itself is characterised by its idyllic location on the Pegnitz River.

Most relevant for tourism are the historic buildings such as Hiltpoltstein Castle or St. Anna's Church with its baroque architecture. Another highlight is the outdoor swimming pool with its 60-metre-long water slide - perfect for hot summer days!

Cultural highlights are offered at the various festivals and events throughout the year, including the castle festival in summer or the Christmas market in winter.

Hiltpoltstein also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine: Be sure to try the Franconian cuisine with its hearty specialities such as bratwurst, sauerkraut and draught beer.

For outdoor activities, a hike through the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park is particularly suitable - here you can enjoy breathtaking views! Cycling along the Pegnitz cycle path is also a nice way to explore the surroundings. In winter, nearby ski areas entice you to take part in winter sports.

If it rains, a visit to the "Alte Mühle" museum is recommended, where you can learn a lot about the history of the region.

The most beautiful time in Hiltpoltstein is in spring, when nature awakens and everything is green and in bloom. But also in autumn, the landscape with its colourful leaves has a special charm.

Overall, Hiltpoltstein is definitely worth a trip - a perfect destination for nature lovers, culture enthusiasts and bon vivants alike!
